Catalogue note:
Born in Milwaukee, Tom Dineen achieved success as a painter in Washington, D.C. in the 1970s, working closely with art dealer Louis Andre of the Wolfe Street Gallery. His work can be found in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art and Florida Gulf Coast University.

In a 1978 review of Dineen's show at the Wolfe Gallery, Jo Ann Lewis described Wolfe's "devoted following of collectors," and wrote:

"Tom Dineen's shows are marked by an extraordinary fact: Each one seems to represent a complete cycle of work in which a challenge is presented, taken up and resolved often in a rousing, surprising conclusion."
