TWO AMERICAN SAMPLERS BY PRISCILLA D. AND ELIZABETH PARK, CIRCA 1825-1835 worked by Priscilla D. Park (b. 1817) and Elizabeth Park, the larger rectangular needlework sampler bearing text within a meandering floral border decorated with dogs, urns and birds, reads "Priscilla D. Park, Daughter of Abram / and Martha Park was born july the 20th 1817/ when i will not be proud of my youth or beuty(sic)/since both of them wither and fade/but gain a good name", 17 1/2 x 16 1/2 in. (sight); with a smaller square alphabet sampler bearing the name Elizabeth Park attached in the lower right corner, 7 1/2 x 8 in. both cotton on linen, the larger with silk accents, in a later frame behind glass, 19 1/2 x 18 1/2 in.
