TWO AREQUIPA ART POTTERY VASES AND AN AREQUIPA ART POTTERY LOW CUT-FLOWER BOWL Fairfax, CA, 1911-1918, impressed tree and vase circular mark to all three, including an oviform vase, glazed in blue and brown, impressed 6 and 19; an oviform vase with flaring rim, the shoulder sculpted with ribbon-tied drapery swags, glazed in celadon green, impressed 188; and a circular low bowl, glazed in organic green, impressed 581 and 1020, dia: 6.25 in. Provenance: Estate of Ronald Sperling

Literature: Frederick Hurten Rhead is recorded as the Art Director at Arequipa from 1911-1913. The hand carved drapery on the oviform vase is characteristic of his work at Arequipa and in Santa Barbara, circa 1914.
