TWO CHINESE UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND WHITE PIECES, MING DYNASTY (17TH CENTURY)
the first, a 'kraak porselein' dish extracted from the Wanli shipwreck by Nanhai Marine Archaeology, No. W220, decorated with two deer below a fruiting peach tree, with a reishu fungus in between them, the wide rim painted with alternating flower in panel and 'dot and comma' decoration, the reverse divided with lines into four sections and stylized flowers in between; and a small bowl, also Ming, the exterior painted in a honeycomb pattern, the interior with central roundel enclosing a swirling design, inner rim painted with a row of small stylized designs (2)

  • Dimensions: Diameter of larger: 8 1/2 in. (21.6 cm.), Diameter of smaller: 5 in. (12.7 cm.)
  • Condition: Kraak dish bears Nanhai Marine silver labels. Surface is degraded and glaze uneven as it is a cargo ware. Bowl has a large fissure from the making. No other issues.
