TWO WEDGWOOD DEEP-BLUE DIP JASPERWARE OVAL PORTRAIT MEDALLIONS, JOHN WESLEY (1703-1791) AND WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (1564 –1616) circa 1840, impressed uppercase marks, Wesley with an impressed Y, probably from a medal by W. Mainwaring, applied with a white relief shoulder-length profile, to dexter, the preacher dressed in ecclesiastical vestments with bands at the neck, h: 3 3/4 in.; the bearded bard, based on a print, first modeled by William Hackwood circa 1777, applied in high-relief, to sinister, wearing Elizabethan dress, h: 4 1/4 in.
