the broken arched pediment centering a "tulip" urn finial inlaid with three overlapping leaves/ petals above the pediment frieze centrally inlaid with an urn issuing trailing vines over two paneled doors enclosing adjustable shelves over a cylinder front and fitted interior, over two paneled doors enclosing two shelves above a shaped apron on splayed "French" bracket feet

A related mahogany inlaid bookcase described as Virginia, Winchester area or Maryland is in the collection of Colonial Williamsburg (object number 2020-230).

  • Dimensions: 100 1/4 x 46 x 22 in. (254.6 x 116.8 x 55.9 cm.)
  • Condition: Finial and cornice repaired, line inlay chipping and staining, old dents, feet rubbed, baize writing surface worn, faded, pulls replaced, replacements broken, one missing, veneer repairs. Originally had drawers behind the hinged doors in the lower case. Old finish.
