WEDGWOOD BLACK BASALT ‘ENCAUSTIC-DECORATED’ TWO-HANDLED VASE circa 1790, impressed uppercase mark and cypher, after the Antique amphora form with upright wishbone bracket handles, painted in iron-red, sepia and white with Jupiter seated among clouds, holding a sceptre and lightning bolts, an eagle at his feet, Mercury's helmet and a caduceus at the top left, between anthemion and key-pattern bands, the neck with pendant vine, on a circular foot, h: 12 in.
