WEDGWOOD BLACK BASALT 'ENCAUSTIC-DECORATION' OVAL CAMEO PLAQUE, 'VULCAN AT HIS ANVIL' circa 1780-1790, impressed uppercase mark, enameled in iron-red and sepia with the god of fire seated at an anvil forging a helmet, within an integral oval beaded frame, w: 5 1/8 in., mounted on a red velvet and black wood frame, h: 8 x w: 9 1/2 in.
