WEDGWOOD BLACK BASALT TRIPOD AMPHORA VASE AND COVER
circa 1790-1800, impressed uppercase mark, recorded as no. 138, of engine-turned amphora form, the beaded mouth trimmed with acanthus leaf-tip, the domed cover with triple Sybil finial, the bowl supported on the back of three winged lion monopodia, the lower body molded with lotus blossoms and foliage above gadrooning and a portrait mask of a satyr, all raised on a triangular base, h: 11 7/8 in.
