WEDGWOOD CANEWARE 'CONCEIT' MODELED AS A CAKE late 18th Century, impressed uppercase mark and G, recorded as shape no. 419, decorated with white piped 'icing', the top reserved with an amatory trophy of paired billing doves above a quiver and torch within a laurel wreath, h: 5 1/2 x w: 8 in.

Catalogue Note:
Conceits were used as table decoration during the late 18th and early 19th Centuries when flour or sugar models were in short supply. They were designed to simulate elaborate confections.
