WEDGWOOD QUEENSWARE E. LESSORE HIPPOCAMPI OVAL CENTER BOWL circa 1870, impressed uppercase mark, signed by Emile Lessore (1805-1876), the oval bowl interior painted with three young river sprites in a grassy landscape, beneath a pierced gallery, the exterior with flying fish and shells, supported on the entwined tails of two addorsed hippocampi rearing among waves, the oval base banded in ochre and iron-red, h: 5 5/8 x w: 12 1/4 in.
