William Meyerowitz, a Russian-born American modernist, was known for his vibrant depictions of New York City and coastal New England. A frequent visitor to Gloucester, Massachusetts, Meyerowitz captured its harbors and architecture with expressive brushwork and rich color. In Gloucester Harbor, his dynamic composition and layered textures reflect both his keen observation and modernist sensibility. Meyerowitz was a member of the Society of Independent Artists and exhibited widely throughout his career.
