WILFORD, 1738. 4to, Second edition of this account of the arrest in 1734 of John Peter Zenger, publisher of the New York Weekly Journal, for criticizing the colonial governor of New York, William Cosby. The arrest and trial was the first contest in America over the freedom of the press and marked a victory for Zenger, the press, and free speech.
