ANNA VAUGHN HYATT HUNTINGTON, (AMERICAN, 1876-1973), "WINTER NOON", CIRCA 1902 signed "Anna V. Hyatt". Stamped GORHAM CO FOUNDERS Q230 and numbered #28 on drapery;

Hyatt (prior to her marriage to Archer Huntington) exhibited "Winter" (also called "Winter Noon") at the Society of American Artists annuals circa 1903. The group depicts two farm horses huddled together under a windswept blanket . The Metropolitan Museum of Art has cast number 7, marked Roman Bronze Works NY; see Conner & Rosenkranz, Rediscoveries in American Sculpture, Studio Works 1893-1939, 1989, (illustrated, p. 73) - h:7.25 in.
