FRENCH BRONZE FIGURE OF CUPID WITH HIS BOW, AFTER JULES FELIX COUTAN (FRENCH, 1848-1939) inscribed 'J. CO.tan. Rome';

Couton studied under Cavelier and won the Prix de Rome in 1871. He debuted at the Paris Salon in 1876 and won his first medal. In 1900, he won the grand prize in the L'Exposition Universelle, h: 26 in. above marble base, h: 27 in. (overall)
