GROUP OF FIVE ENGLISH BLACK TRANSFER-PRINTED CREAMWARE TABLEWARES AND TWO WORCESTER PORCELAIN BLACK TRANSFER-PRINTED WARES, 18TH CENTURY
including: a Neale black transfer-printed 'motto' plate emblematic of Wisdom and Industry, circa 1780-90, incised ellipsis to the reverse, printed in black with Minerva, the Goddess of Wisdom, seated before three putti circling the globe above the inscription 'Let Wisdom Unite Us', flanked by pendant game trophies, the shaped circular border molded with three splayed swags and painted with a black feather edge, dia: 9 3/4 in.; a creamware punch-pot and cover, with acanthus leaf-molded spout, strap handle and globular finial, both sides with peasant scenes of a family watching a child play the horn, h: 8 in.; a creamware Dutch-Market 'motto' cup and saucer emblematic of Liberty, Staffordshire or Yorkshire, circa 1787, the cup with shepherd and sheep to reverse, the dish with Liberty and motto 'Voor Vryhyde en Vaderland' (For Freedom and Fatherland), saucer, dia: 4 1/4 in. and cup dia: 1 1/4 in.; a creamware jug printed with Diana and her hounds to one side, and a pastoral scene to reverse, circa 1780-1800, h: 8 1/2 in; a Worcester porcelain teacup, circa 1760, printed after an engraving by Robert Hancock, 'The Tea Party', with a seated couple holding hands to one side and a woman and child to the other, h: 2 1/2 in.; and a Worcester porcelain mug, circa 1760, cylindrical with a loop handle, based on François Boucher, printed after an engraving by Robert Hancock known as 'The Well-Head', h: 5 in.
