Catalogue note:
Vincent Gray was deputy collector of customs at Alexandria; John Fitzgerald was an Alexandria resident, soldier in the Revolution, and was a friend of George Washington.

James Taylor (1769–1848) was a contractor for the U.S. arsenal and barracks at Newport, Kentucky, and served as a militia brigadier general. He was a distant cousin of James Madison.
