PAIR OF GERMAN TWO-HANDLED CACHEPOTS, WITH UNDERGLAZE BLUE CONJOINED 'AR' STYLE MARKS, 19TH CENTURY the deep bowl with spaced delicated ribs ending in a shaped rib, decorated to each side with birds on tree branches, with two twined handles each with an insect above and flanked by two applied flowerheads, w: (over handles) 7 in. (2) h:5 in.

Literature: The Elector August the Strong was the founder of the Meissen Porcelain Factory and the original conjoined AR mark was placed on pieces that were used at his court. Occasionally this mark was also used on gifts to royal visitors. This monogram was first used in the first half of 18th century at the time the crossed swords mark was introduced.
