PAIR OF WEDGWOOD & BENTLEY FAUX 'PORPHYRY' STONEWARE VASES AND COVERS circa 1775, impressed Wedgwood & Bentley : Etruria circular marks, of shield shape, the domed covers with ball finials, one cover a later replacement, the white stoneware body sprinkled in grey-blue in imitation of precious stone, the mouth and shoulder applied with creamware ornament of palmettes or drapery swags enriched with oiled gilding, above fluting, on a conforming socle foot and black basalt square base, h: 9 in.
