WEDGWOOD & BENTLEY FAUX 'PORPHYRY' STONEWARE VASE AND COVER circa 1775, impressed Wedgwood & Bentley : Etruria circular mark, recorded as shape no. 179, of chalice form with wishbone bracket handles, the domed cover with a large Sybil finial enriched in oiled gilding, the white terracotta stoneware body sprinkled in grey-blue in imitation of precious stone, the socle with a gilt beaded band, on a square basalt base, h: 8 in.
