PAN YULIANG (CHINESE, 1895-1977)
LETTER TO WANG JIYUAN. 1971
Ink on paper:
One creased paper written front and back in pen with envelope; Sent from Paris, France, June 13 1971; "To my teacher Jiyuan, I saw your exhibition catalogue. I know more than ten pieces sold on the opening date. Congratulations! I am taking Chinese medicine every day. It seems to work, so don't worry about me..Yesterday the director of Asian Art Museum from Paris came to invite me to have a solo show at their place at the beginning of next year. I accepted. I already had a bronze sculpture and oil painting of their past director but they asked to include all my work from 1937 to present. So would you have your student pack all my works left at your place and handed to Mr. Ma...Have you seen Mr. Da-Chien lately? He must be recovered well from his eye operation. I had the picture on the wall which had both you and Mr. Da-Chien together. It makes me happy when I look at it every day...Talk to you next time, Pan Chang Yuliang, 6-18-71".
