SET OF FIVE JAPANESE IMARI DISHES, EACH WITH APOCRYPHAL 6-CHARACTER MING CHENGHUA MARK, BUT EDO PERIOD
of fluted form and decorated with a partially unfolded byobu (six-panel screen painted with jakugo - fishing baskets), the background with pine prunus and bamboo, the three friends of winter, all within an underglaze blue and white border to rims of waves and flowers, gilt rims, the reverse with blue and white scrolling karakusa enclosing apocryphal marks (5)

  • Dimensions: Width: 8 in. (20.32 cm.)
  • Condition: Actually, there are five dishes. Interesting pattern. All dishes have wear to gilt to rims. SOme pinpoint minor flaws in the making and a bit of soiling and minor abrasion from use and age, but all around good condition.
