THREE ROOKWOOD ART POTTERY WARES / HATTIE HORTON / ALBERT VALENTIEN Cincinnati, OH date cyphers for 1883, 1882, 1882, all impressed ROOKWOOD, two with anchor marks, decorator's initials HH for Hattie Horton (active 1882-1884) to the vase and ARV for Albert R. Valentien (1862-1925) to the other two, in the Limoges Japonisme style, including a baluster vase, h: 8 in.; a cream jug with pierced rim; and a matching bail-handled basket, all painted with swallows in flight over marsh grass, the green, brown and ochre glazes enriched in powdered gilt (3)
