Valentien (1864-1931), the second with gold painted WMcD for William P. McDonald (1862-1925), both of teardrop form, painted in the Limoges Japonisme style with either a butterfly or a swallow in flight above gilt bamboo, the pale-pink or mottled-blue ground enriched with powdered gilt, h: 12.5 in.
