THREE WHITE SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE SAUCEBOATS, MID-TO-LATE 18TH CENTURY
the first, Staffordshire, circa 1760, the mold attributed to Aaron Wood, press-molded with leafy scrolls enclosing trellis and diaper and wickerwork panels, reeded loop handle, l: 7 1/2 in. (over spout); the second, a lobed sauceboat, circa 1750, press-molded with quatrefoil flowers and leaves, with reeded strap handle, l: 6 1/4 in. (over spout); the third, an unusually small example, circa 1758-1770, the mold attributed to Aaron Wood, press-molded with leafy scrolls enclosing trellis and diaper and basket-weave panels, h: 2 in.; l: 5 3/8 in.     Catalogue note:
    The first - with examples in City Museum, Stoke-on-Trent, Temple Newsom House, Newark Museum. A corresponding block mold at the Victoria & Albert Museum, accession no. 2164-1901.
    The second - with shards of this form excavated in Deer Street I (T.T.26). Another example in Jones Gallery; and a Littler's blue glazed example at The Bayou Bend Period Rooms, Fine Arts Museum Houston, Texas, object no. B.2018.6.
    The third - with a corresponding block mold at the Victoria & Albert Museum, accession no. 2165-1901.
