TWO 19TH CENTURY SAMPLERS the larger sampler is cross-stitched on linen homespun by Catherine Rogers , dated 1825, the sampler begins with pine trees, urn-filled flowers, a short verse, and the alphabet, approx. 11.5 x 16.5 in., the frame is approx. 15.5 x 20 in.; the second sampler has a hymnal verse cross-stitched on fine linen homespun with a floral surround in satin stitch, by Sara Ann D. Moffatt, School of St. Clare, 1826, approx. 10.75 x 10.5 in., the frame is approx. 13.5 x 13.5 in. (2)
