Catalogue note:
Born in Cincinnati in 1868, Douglas studied at the Art Students League of New York and the National Academy of Design under William Merritt Chase. Douglas was a member of the American Watercolor Society, Salmagundi Club, Salon of America and Society of Independent Painters. He exhibited extensively at the National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Boston Arts Club, Salmagundi Club, Society of Independent Artists and at the 1904 St. Louis Exposition.
