WEDGWOOD LIGHT-BLUE SOLID JASPERWARE PLAQUE OF PRIAM AND ACHILLES early 19th Century, impressed uppercase mark, first modeled for Wedgwood by Camillo Pacetti in wax, after the sarcophagus of Alexander Severus and Julia Mammaea, Capitoline Museum, Rome, the applied white relief depicting a scene from the Iliad, at the right the Trojan King Priam has descended from his chariot and kneels before the seated Greek leader Achilles, pleading for the body of his son, Hector, while at the far left is a chariot filled with gifts, h: 9 x w: 21 in., within an ebonized and giltwood frame
